| Public Works to review sidewalk project
Director of Public Works Charlesworth Davis said plans for renovation of the sidewalks in St. John's may have to be revised in light of the concerns raised by the Antigua & Barbuda Association of Persons with Disabilities (ABAPD). Speaking with the Antigua Sun, president of the ABAPD voiced his dismay that road crews were building special stone curbs at the corners with little consideration for individuals with disabilities. Davis told the SUN that having learnt of the concerns of the association yesterday morning, following an exclusive page one story in the SUN, the road works committee would have to meet to review the project. .
Ga. legislators square off against wheelchair basketball team
Glenn Richardson, one of Georgia's most powerful politicians, went head-to-head Thursday with Kyle Wriston, a standout on an all-star wheelchair basketball team. Unfortunately for Richardson, he was on Wriston's turf. The Georgia House Speaker and a handful of other key legislators strapped into wheelchairs to play against an elite high school wheelchair basketball team, but the game was over before it began. During warm-ups, state Rep. Ron Forster blew out one of his wheelchair's wheels. State Rep. Mark Butler, wearing his shirt and tie under his green jersey, almost tipped his chair when he tried a behind-the-back shot. "I just hope we don't look too bad," Richardson offered before the game started at Georgia State University's athletic center.
